Conservatives are calling for full public engagement after the review by Highways England of the Oxford to Cambridge Expressway. The government has announced their preferred corridor is Option B, suggesting it ‘outperforms the other options by providing better links to jobs, education, leisure and health services’.
Option B includes options to pass either West or East of Oxford.
James Fredrickson Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Oxford West and Abingdon said: “With a preferred route now selected, discussion of further detail should be opened to full public consultation. Everyone should have the opportunity to have a say in the future of where we live and work - so I’ll be working with Oxfordshire County Council to make sure as many people are engaged in decision making on the proposed expressway as possible.
From talking to residents across the area, it’s clear to see that any scheme needs to relieve pressure on the A34 and existing roads and must work efficiently alongside other schemes, such as improved rail connectivity”
