Safety concerns with the A34 have been the local issue most frequently raised with me. We all know the road is critical to our local economy, yet the extremely short slip road junctions mean the road has a high frequency of accidents. Highways England have now ear-marked £50million to improve the safety of this road. These upgrades have been delayed whilst consideration of an ‘expressway’ was ongoing. However, as of 20 November 2019, the Government has moved away from plans for the Expressway following our campaign to halt them. James is now working to ensure that the A34 improvements progress as quickly as possible – meeting County Council Leader Ian Hudspeth and other stake holders every month to review progress.
